Finally I have arrived with all my stuff in Oxford! The journey was quite an adventure. I had a very, very heavy suitcase, a bike, my laptop, a poster roll and an additional bag, because I did not manage to get all into my suitcase. I had planned enough time to get onto the train so this part was ok. In Oxford I first had to find a place to lock my bike, but the place which is supposed to be used for that was really crowded. I found a place quite in the middle and took a taxi to get to Linacre College. When I arrived at the college, all the doors were locked and Nobody could be seen. After about 10 Minutes some member of the college came out and let me in. "Normally the front door is open, just today it is closed for some reason...."....Somebody could have told me that. I got to the reception and could collect the key, and luckily all my boxes I had posted two days earlier had already arrived, so I could take a big taxi and take all that things with me. And here is where I am living at the moment:
Schließlich bin ich doch mit meinem ganzen Krempel in Oxford angekommen! Die Reise war ein kleines Abenteuer, ich hatte einen viel, viel zu schweren Koffer, ein Fahrrad, meinen Laptop, eine Posterrolle und noch ne Extratasche, weil nicht alles in den Koffer gepasst hat. Ich hatte zum Glück genug Zeit am bahnhof eingeplant, so bin ich halbwegs gescheit in den Zug und in Oxford auch wieder heraus gekommen. In Oxford musste ich dann erstmal einen Platz für mein Fahrrad finden, was garnicht so einfach war, da die freien Plätze irgendwo in der Mitte waren. Mit dem Taxi bin ich dann zum Linacre College gefahren, wo allerdings alle Türen abgeschlossen waren und nirgendwo irgendeine Person zu sehen war. nach ca. 10 Minuten warten kam glücklicherweise ein Student heraus der mich dann reinließ und mir erklärte: "normalerweise is die Eingangstür immer offen. Nur heute ist sie aus irgendwelchen Gründen zu...."...na toll, das hätte mir auch mal jemand sagen können. An der Rezeption gab es dann wirklich meinen Schlüssel, und meine ganzen Kisten waren auch schon da, so dass ich gleich mit nem großen Taxi und meinem ganzen Krempel zum Haus fahren konnte:

Das Fenster im 1. Stock direkt auf der Ecke ist meins. Das Haus ist ok, englisch halt, nur die Küche ist etwas klein:
The bathroom is ok as well, it is small, but we only have to share it with two people, and the shower is really, really good, much better than in York.
Das Badezimmer ist auch klein aber ok, da wir es nur zu zweit teilen müssen und die Dusche ist wirklich seeeeeeeeeehr gut, viel besser als in York!!
And that is my room, a bit larger than in York. But it is not so nice that my window opens to the street, which is quite busy. It seems I have to get used to it.
Und das ist mein Zimmer, etwas größer als in York, nur mein Fenster geht zur Straße, das ist nicht so nett, muss ich mich aber wohl dran gewöhnen.
Most important: mini socks!!

Today I have had my laptop checked by the IT officer which took approximately 3 hours.... now I am finally allowed to connect to the network.... after nearly 3 days deprivation. I have been in the lab as well for some time today. I got my desk, a lot of safety stuff to read and an introductions what I am supposed to do during the next month. They have planned quite a lot of things but it sounds really interesting. Thats it for now, more Oxford impressions later this week.
Heute hab ich noch meinen Laptop Sicherheitchecken lassen, was ungefähr 3 Stunden gedauert hat, aber ich hab jetzt endlich wieder Internet in meinem Zimmer nach fast 3 Tagen Entzug. Außerdem war ich heute noch im Labor, musste nen Haufen Sicherheitskram durchlesen, hab meinen Schreibttisch bekommen, und eine Einführung was ich in den nächsten Monaten so tun soll. Sie haben so einiges geplant, aber es hört sich schon sehr interessant an. Das reicht erstmal für heute, mehr Oxford-impressionen dann später diese Woche!
