BINGO - just for the experience!

Yesterday it was time for another social: We went playing Bingo because Mine wated to play Bingo. Nobody has played it before and its a very serious business here. It is mostly played by the older generations, to the woman at the reception was quite surprised to see so many young people. What we then go first was our Membership card: (You need it only in case you win...)

BINGO-das muss man erlebt haben...oder auch nicht!
Gestern war Zeit für ein weiteres "Social" (mir fällt grad keine gescheite Übersetzung ein). Wir waren Bingo spielen, weil Mine unbedingt mal Bingo spielen wollte. Nimand von uns hatte davor schonmal Bingo gespielt, aber es ist hier eine sehr ernste Angelegenheit. Bingo wird meist von älteren Generationen gespielt, die nichts anderes zu tun haben, und deswegen war die Empfangsdame auch sehr überrascht so viele junge Leute zu sehen. Als erstes brauchten wir einen Mitgliedausweis, für den Fall das einer von uns gewinnen sollte:
We knew nothing about Bingo before, so we weren't very well prepared. Nobody of us had a BINGO-Pen.... But the woman there was very helpful and everyone got one Pen for free....But I'm sure some people will end up with pink faces because of this Pens...

Wir wussten ganichts über Bingo, deswegen waren wir absolut schlecht ausgestattet. Keiner von uns hatte einen BINGO-Stift... Aber die Dame dort war wieder sehr hilfsbereit und wir bekamen alle einen Stift umsonst. Ich glaube es wird einmal ein böses Ende geben mit diesen Stiften wie pinke Gesichter oder so...

We were absolutely badly prepared, so we were too late for the first two pages... But know we could start. The Bingo takes place in a huge hall, like already mentioned the normal Bingo Player is above 50 and has nothing else to do... All these people are sitting at their tables, very serious, quiet and highly concetrated. And then is there the BINGO-man. He stands in the middle of the room on a Podium and reads out the numbers really fast like this " three and four thirtyfour, both the two twentytwo, seven by its own seven,....." OK, let's start! You play one page at a time and you have to highlight all the numbers the Bingo-man reads out with you Bingo-Pen. Once you have one row you have to shout very quickly because only the first shouter gets the money... And then the card is checked and you get more numbers until somebody has two lines filled. And the most Money is for a full house which means all rows.

Da wir ja nun nicht nur schlecht ausgerüstet sondern auch noch zu spät waren, haben wir die ersten zwei Seiten verpasst. Aber bei der dritten konnten wir dann einsteigen. Das Bingo findet in einem großen Raum statt mit einer großen Masse von Bingo Spielern, wie schon erwähnt über 50 und mit keiner anderen Beschäftigung. Also alle die leute sitzen dort an ihren Tischen, todernst, leise und hochkonzentriert. Und dann ist da noch der Bingo-Mann: der steht in der Mitte und liest die Nummern vor: " three and four thirtyfour, both the two twentytwo, seven by its own seven,....." So, jetzt gehts aber wirklich los. Also man spielt immer eine Seite gleichzeitig und alles was man zu tun hat ist die Nummern, die der Bingo-Mann vorliest, mit seinem Bingo-Pen zu markieren. Wenn man eine vollständige waagerechte Reihe hat muss man möglichst schnell laut rufen, weil man nur so das Geld bekommt. Weitere Preise gitbt es dann für den ersten mit zwei Reihen und für den ersten mit "Full-house" also einem ganz ausgefüllten Kästchen.

None of us was lucky just Matt had a full house once and won 30 Pounds. But Bingo is also very multimedial nowadays. In between the two Blocks there was an ISDN(!!!)-Connection to the natinonal Bingo Game, which seemed to connect all Bingo-Centers in Britain. And the same like before happened just with a BINGO man from the speakers and for more money. After all it was quite an interesting experience, but I'm sure I don't need to play it until I'm old and have nothing else to do.

Nur Matt hatte Glück und hat mit einmal Full-house 30 Pfund gewonnen. Bingo ist heutzutage außerdem sehr multimedial. Zwischen den beiden Blocks gab es eine ISDN(!!!!)-Verbindung mit anscheinend alles anderen Bingo-Centern in Großbritanien. Dann passiert das gleiche vie voher, aber mit einem Bingo-Mann aus dem Lautsprecher und mehr geld. Es war schon eine interessante Erfahrung, abe rich glaube ich brauche das nicht bevor ich alt bin und sonst nix zu tun habe.
